Jays Hotstove Update: 12/10/2007
The Jays are still waiting for word from the Giants-- who said two days ago that they would decide by the end of the weekend or early in the week whether they'll make "the deal" or not. Even Giants fans are getting antsy. San Jose Mercury News writer Tim Kawakami has come out in favour of the deal, likening it to the time Sabean traded fan favourite Matt Williams for an unproven Jeff Kent. So I guess not everyone is pulling their hair out over Lincecum.
Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times says that the White Sox are interested in Rios, but admits that they don't really have the pieces to pull a deal off and should probably go fuck himself for even mentioning it.
UPDATE:
Riccardi, in contrast to everything we've been hearing since the season ended, is being quoted as follows in a Canadian Press report: "We've been involved with a lot of discussions, some for two months, some for six weeks, some for two weeks," he said. "There comes a point when you say our team is our team.
"We haven't reached that point yet."
Oh, and thank fuck! According to the consonant king, Barry Svrluga of the Washington Post, as well as our own Blair in the Globe, Paul LoDouche-a will be a clubhouse cancer with the Washington Nationals, not here.
The dude from MLBTradeRumors.com seems to think that Glaus still has a chance to be moved-- to the Angels. I'm skeptimistic at best.
In news that will piss off the crowd who for some reason feel the Jays need to worry about where their players were born more than who will make their teams better, some Reds officials feel they're the front-runners for Erik Bedard. One of the many pieces the Reds have who could make this work is Canadian prospect Joey Votto.
Finally, Kevin Mench has been DFA'd by the Brewers. I don't actually know why I'm mentioning this.
And now, I'm going to steal a video that Joanna at Hum and Chuck posted the other day, which examines Lincecum's mechanics...

see, kevin, breaking doc's leg will have eventual karmic reprecussions.
and unfortunately, the chisox already traded away the pitcher I'd be interested in, meaning Garland. If they want to trade with us for Buerhle, now we're talking.
Lo Duca is a shitbag anyway. Bring back Sal.
Lo Duca is a good fit with the Washington Trail Blazers.
I'd be VERY surprised if Glaus gets moved but the Angels make the most sense - they needed (yes past tense) more bats in the lineup and are extremely deep with pitchers...
In regards to Votto - he will be a star in the MLB..dealing for Bedard would be interesting...
I wonder if the Lincecum deal falls through if the Jays would push for a Rios+ package deal for Bailey/Votto deal??? There were previous rumours involving Rios for Bailey...
MLBTradeRumors is a pretty horrible site when it comes to putting anything pertaining to truth... they'll pretty much publish anything...
As far as the Bedard rumors go, I'd be really surprised if the O's take a package centred around Votto, as good as Votto could be, rather than a package centred around Adam Jones.
I'm guessing they figure Votto is more of a sure thing, but Jones looks like he could be something special.
I don't really understand the Glaus trade rumors at all, the team that seems to need Glaus the most and can take on his salary seems to be the Jays, so I don't really get why they'd deal him... and who exactly they'd replace him with (in the middle of the lineup and at the corner)
oh yeah, and Fuck Kevin Mench and his fucked up feet.
I'm pretty sure the "Rumors" part of the sight name is a big tip-off that their aim isn't to publish the truth. They don't verify the rumours they just post them and link to the articles they came from. Great site. I'll defend it.
Wow, I watch Lincecum and the crazy movement that comes of his hard stuff and the name that comes to mind is Pedro Martinez.
What I worry about is that he won't be able to change his mechanics and be effective if/when he gets injured.
Hmmmm, Lincecum reminds of another slightly undersized power pitcher, what was his name again....
