Geddy Lee Did What?
From the Fucking Surprising Memorabilia Collections file:
I just... I don't know what to say about this one. Weirdly awesome? Awesomely weird? Hilarious? Noble? Amazing? Fucked up? Great?
Well, OK. I guess I have a few things to say. But, um... I'll leave most of it to the Kansas City Star:
"Close to 200 baseballs, all autographed by former Negro Leagues baseball players or backers, have been donated to the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum by a somewhat surprising fan ... Rush singer/bassist Geddy Lee. It’s among the largest single donations the museum has had, according to director of marketing Bob Kendrick."
??!?!!!!!???!??!???!
(Oh, and yeah, I know Geddy's the hardest one to actually see in the picture of Rush that I chose there, but I tell you what, you go rummaging through Google Images for a good pic of Gary Weinrib, and then, when you come across that little gem, try to resist it. Go on. Try to, hotshot. I'm only human, people!)
UPDATE: This is really pretty awesomely amazing of Geddy. Also:

25 rational and reasonable comments:
i saw geddy sitting in the stands at an astros game and they went down to interview him, he was telling the broadcast team about his nl-only fantasy team, his knowledge was deep and impressive
... as impressive as he is ugly.
"What about the voice of Geddy Lee?"
I wonder if he competes with Stephen Malkmus in the same NL-only fantasy league?
That is the immortal liner photo from the 2112 album. Classic Rush, before they went all radio-poppy in the 80s.
WE ARE THE PRIESTS!
OF THE TEMPLES!!
OF SYRINX!!!!
Yes, baby.
He sang a lot of really shitty songs, that's what he did.
Take off,
It's a beauty way to go
Take off,
To the Great White North
I'm just going to assume that you all mean his Negro-League-Only fantasy team.
sometimes I call me the working man... because that's what I am.

Well I'll be... I have heard of Rush before.

Ummm . . . I don't want to sound like a queer or nothin, but, Geddy Lee, greatest bass player ever.
I visited the Negro Leagues museum in KC. It's small but a great place to check out.

refer to Orgazmo for quote.
Did I mention that I Philly Boy'd Tom Sawyer in Rock Band? That's right, tied the microphone around my neck and sang and drummed it. Gold.
THE RIVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVVER!
Ah, yes. Moving Pictures is the best album of their career in my opinion. The quintessential Rush album, if you will.
Molson Amp. July 9th.
It's going to be quite the show.
Moving Pictures is pretty awesome.
Their live albums are all pretty amazing as well.
Everyone would gather
On the twenty-fourth of May
Sitting in the sand
To watch the fireworks display.
Dancing fires on the beach,
Singing songs together...
Though it's just a memory,
Some memories last forever.
Ahhhh, refreshing. Let's see Cold Plague come up with a gemmer like that!

pahhahahahahahahahahahahahha
... "Behind my beloved waterfall, in the little room that was hidden beneath the cave, I found it. I brushed away the dust of the years, and picked it up, holding it reverently in my hands. I had no idea what it might be, but it was beautiful" ...
... "I learned to lay my fingers across the wires, and to turn the keys to make them sound differently. As I struck the wires with my other hand, I produced my first harmonious sounds, and soon my own music! How different it could be from the music of the Temples! I can't wait to tell the priests about it! ..."
BAH HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HAHA HA!
-- What is a guitar, Alex.
I'm not really laughing. This is interesting.
Beau, don't overlook the gold that is A Farewell To Kings.
I cannot stop smiling when looking at that hair on lifeson in the pic
How about his camel toe!
side note, the KC Jazz Museum is right next door to the Negro Leagues Museum. It's equally awesome.
That certainly is a less puffy Alex Lifeson.
