Mid-Game Trade Stuff

The Cubs have picked up Rich Harden and Chad Gaudin from the A's for Sean Gallagher, Matt Murton, Eric Patterson and John Donaldson-- who our friends at MLB Trade Rumors call "three MLB-ready players plus a solid offense-oriented catching prospect"-- thus ending AJ Burnett's fantasy. Of course, the Phillies are still among a number of teams who are looking, and they could theoretically offer SS Jason Donald-- who is blocked by Jimmy Rollins and hitting .293/.401/.467 at AA Reading in the Eastern League.

Speaking of MLBTR, it's through them that we've heard that MLB.com's Jim Molony suggests that the Dodgers are kicking the tires on Eckstein now that it seems they won't be making a deal with the Pirates for Jack Wilson.

Don't usually see headlines regarding the Blue Jays, so when Yahoo! finally does put one up, figures it'd be something like this:

Why are we so terrible?

Why are we so terrible?

Because we're just nice polite Canadians, why tonight we took are friends the Horials to two out in a couple of inning and just so they wouldn't feel bad we let the third out hit enough to put a candle on their cake.

Hendry is a fucking moron, If you think that Burnett will break down wait until you see Harden! Hendry is a big fucking fool. AJ for his flaws will play throught a hangnail for his new contract. Imagine if the Jays got this back these Cub players in a trade? The Jays have the worst luck...........

If there was any time for Rios to hit a grand slam and make his haters stop hating, it's now.

Eh a 3-run triple will do I guess

hahaha......That was awesome.

Rolen, the best Blue Jay ever!!!!

Ryan said...

Wait...Rolen just hit that ball, the opposition failed to get him out, Rios ran across home plate and then all the Jays walked off the field. I'm assuming the Jays lost, but they look happy. What the hell?

Torgen said...

They can't be that happy. Dustin is getting an MRI on his shoulder.

Stoeten said...

Holy shit did they win?

Yeah, was just going to say about McGowan. But... well... it's hard not to be somewhat optimistic when the worst case is that he isn't ready for spring training.

Tony Jackson, of the Los Angeles Daily News, reports Los Angeles Dodgers OF Matt Kemp was involved in a trade package for Milwaukee Brewers SP CC Sabathia, according to a source. It is also believed that P Jon Meloan or P James McDonald were also included in the package.

Matt Kemp for AJ Burnett and David Eckstein maybe...or am I just dreaming.

Well, I'm not shocked about McGowan's shoulder--something has looked clearly amiss, I think they overextended him in Seattle back on June 10th.

He hasn't looked too sharp since then.

As to Ricciardi's comment--the man is a tool. He could try to correct the offensive woes by picking up a DH but preferred to do nothing when it was obvious they needed another bat.

He had the power to do something and chose to do nothing--this is on him.

Pack yer bags J.P. hopefully your remarks are your swan song.

Best Regards

John

McGowan going out brings to mind a Will Carroll article that surmised that with the innings he and Marcum pitched in 2007 they were both ripe for injury. At the time, I did not think much of it but it appears there was something to this after all.

Burnett, Eckstein, and Lind for Matt Kemp and Andy Laroche or Lu (who's stock has fallen). Drool.

Beau said...

Or Burnett, Eckstein, and $50 for two hookers and a bag of crack.

No no, I got it! Burnett, Eckstein, Scutaro for Ryan Howard, a cheese platter, a box of wine, and two tylenols.

OR maybe a corn-cob pipe, tophat, a button, 2 pieces of coal, and a box of snow for a magical adventure with a frosty snowman?

I'd make that trade in a minute.

Anyone catch the TSN guys calling Rolen driving in the winning run as "clutch" hahaha. Was gold. He rolled it right to the shortstop. Maybe one out of a thousand times that's not an out. Good on him for recognizing that it would sneak through. Real Clutch!!

the ack said...

that's why he's The Greatest Blue Jay Of All Time.

CLUTCH!

eli said...

beau that deal isn't that absurd. you guys who think aj has no value are just used to a shitty gm who cant pull off a good trade.

Beau said...

I wasn't saying it was absurd. I don't think it that absurd. I just don't think Ricciardi has a trade in him.

daryl said...

What's the not absurd part? The bag of crack or the cheese platter?

Mmm, cheese.

I like Kemp, but at this point, I'd rather just give the LF job to Lind and see what he can do for the rest of the season as a regular. Plus, if Snider is only a season away, I wouldn't say OF is the teams most pressing need with Rios and Wells both locked in. Can never have too many talented young players though, I guess.

I need my work camera back pronto.

Fancy work ditching the wedding too. I find the reasoning lacking.

Stedron said...

You guys are no longer allowed to bitch about the comment traffic only being good after losses. The Jays finally pull one out last night, and no new post? What's up with that?

daryl said...

Stedron, I was just about to make the same complaint.

Torgen said...

Isn't the problem with any trade that all our positions but short and some pitchers are full of either long term contracts or the prospects we already have?

Stoeten said...

I stopped paying attention at 6-2. Sowwy.

kamran said...

I stopped watching when they were down 6-2, too.
