One Last Rumour Before Bed
According to Maryland's favourite news source for gun crime, pedophilia rings and drug abuse, the Baltimore Orioles are interested in David Eckstein.
Why?
I couldn't even begin to fucking understand, let alone explain. It may have something to do with a delusional general manager desperate to make a mistake or a foolish sports writer who misunderstood a joke.
However, the thought of the Jays selling assets (and I use the term loosely) to the Baltimore Orioles at the mid-way point of the season, even if it is just speculation, reminds me of the time I swallowed four of those sponge toys that expand in water, and had to have my stomach pumped in the emergency room.

If this helps provide plausibility, it would be nowhere near the dumbest or most pointless move that Baltimore has made in the last 5 years...
Wait, is this some kind of attempt to win this year for the Orioles? Aren't they only like 3 games ahead of the Jays?
Haha, who cares...give him to them. How about a bag of balls, or if Angelos is willing, their top prospect?
YES!!!

Or maybe, just maybe, it has something to do with the fact Eckstein has the highest OBP amongst all AL SSs? Sure, his D is ass juice, but Wilner has decided the only stat in baseball that matters is OBP, which makes Eckstein a fucking fantastic SS.

I think the shocking part is the fact that it is the Orioles asking, not that somebody would actually want Eckstein (he has a history of having intangibles and grit!).
Fuck, this sucks. We are already in "look toward next-year mode", and it's barely July. The truly shitty part is, we are stuck with the key elements of this team (offensively) through next year at least, unless JP or his successor wants to sell low on somebody. Ugh. Sorry, but those Seattle losses wore me out. Cairo and Bloomquist, wtf!
Eckstein, seeeeee ya. Fuck you and this season, its OVER. The winds of change are blowing in...
Of the very few pro athletes I have ever admired, Doc is on the top of that list. That coupled with his insane talent makes me shutter when I think that TO wasted one of the most solid pitchers in the past 6-7 years. But this season is over and he needs to be traded to a contender for a plethora of young talent. These Jays can't win, they need to be re-tooled and this is the more efficient way to do it.
Why you gotta be like that, Ari? Let's see some fucking civility.
Eck is a Type B so could possibly net a supplemental round pick.
Only problem is you have to offer him arbitration. But if his numbers stay this solid, there's a good chance he doesn't accept.
The Orioles have some horrid number out of the shortstop position and would be helped by his offensive boost, like us last year.
I'd trade him, but he might be a good complement in an AJ Burnett trade. Like JJ Hardy or some good Dodgers prospect for Burnett and Eckstein.
The Brewers are offering Laporta and maybe Alcides for Sabathia. You'd think that Burnett woudl do just fine in the AL that they could get him for probably just Alcides. They can't afford CC anyway.
So Ricciardi needed half a season to figure out that Eckstein wasn't the answer? I suppose next he'll make the revelation that Wilkerson, Mench, and Stewart aren't the answer in LF.
What a waste.
I share the frustration about Halladay's talented being wasted; he's probably my favourite Blue Jay ever. But I don't think trading him is the answer. To the contrary, I think he's still the guy you build the team around. The front office has made some mistakes on deciding which players fit that mould (step right up, Vernon), but I think Halladay is as close to a sure bet as you can get in this game. If we moved him, it would make some of the other questionable moves this team has made look like strokes of genius.
Oh come on stoeten, there is officially no way I will allow any of either yours or Parkes' idiocies fly without a shout out. And for the record, it was only the second "just maybe" that made my response look as douchy as yours usually do.
"Douchy." I like it.
For the record, I'm only a cunt to everybody in the comments because I tend to read at work, I tend to want to tell my co-workers to eat a dick, and since I can't really do that without getting canned, I come here and take out my aggressions on anybody who says anything stupid.
And half the time I miss that a comment was a sarcastic reply to something above it, take it seriously, and write something "douchy" myself. I usually catch it right away, but still.
I like that I read a blog where I can tell everyone to blow me. Why the fuck can't I find a workplace that works the same way?
