Podcast #10: Let's Get Suicidal
The combination of Blue Jays shittiness and copious amounts of alcohol combine to make our latest podcast downright Kevorkian.
But don't get too down. We speak with Alison Broverman of the National Post about speed dating at the ball park, and Jon Hale of The Mockingbird drops by in time for some technical difficulties.
You can download and rub our latest podcast all over your body at The Score or through iTunes.
Special thanks to Joe Ross and Scott Herkes from The Score for putting things together.

32 rational and reasonable comments:
Joe Ross is the producer, right?
Who's that Scott Herkes character then?
Fantastic show as always, boys. I suppose not talking about baseball should be more of an issue, but we'd all just get too depressed getting into the Jays right now.
Jolly good stuff.
For the record, Stote had one beer out of the case that we took to the hotel. And he did not pay for it.

I was in on another case Hamm. A secret case. So secret that it's probably still sitting there, depending on the damage Adam did to it. I didn't pay for that one either.
Remember a few years ago, Letterman wanted to go on Oprah's show for a chat. And he had a notebook he called "The Oprah Log", in which he wrote things like "Day 135...still no call from Oprah".
Sharing cases of beer is for fucking pussies.
Great podcast. Great music this week too...just sayin'
ah that's what I needed after a long day with kids. Thanks guys!
Stoeten, there was a secret case, fuck did I know about this?! the more I try to piece together, the more I realize there is about a 2 hour gap that I will never get back.
Thanks for that guys, it was far more entertaining than the Jays have been this week, I have to say.
Awesome podcast...perfect to listen to while walking off the hangover from the weekend after the ol' workshift
Have to add that the Canadian Heritage moments during the Nadal/Federer Match were kickass! my favourite was the one where the natives were talking about the villages and the houses ('Canada') while the settlers insisted that they were referring to the name.
The music was also kickass...anyway you guys could post which songs were used?
Dan, funny, by the end you looked like a guy who was in the middle of a two hour gap you would never get back. For some reason I think I remember most of it. Cool it. Cool it.
Ryan, I believe I once mentioned to the other guys that we should do track listings, but nobody seemed keen on it. Too much work to remember which song ended up where or something. Or maybe I didn't even ever do that. Anyway, we let the host choose the music, and that was Parkes, so I have no idea what most of that was, or I'd gladly help you out.
I'll admit, I'm the kind of guy that Joe gets mad at in the parting shots. But fuck, I'd have to punch myself if the words "venti mocha latte" (or whatever the fuck it is) ever came out of my mouth. It's small, medium, and large, don't pretend it's any better coffee just because they use some Italian word for it.
... Starbucks pisses me off.
mocha latte isn't really coffee.
Hey Ryan S here are the songs that were used in this weeks podcast...
1. In One Ear - Cage The Elephant
2. Death Letter - The WHite Stripes
3. I Got Mine - The Black Keys
4. My Party - Kings Of Leon
5. Parting Ways - Pearl Jam
6. Putting On The Ritz - Taco
Hope that helps...
Great job this week, guys. It's great to hear Joe chime in with his remarks (especially this week's parting shot). I imagine that Stoeten was hungover as fuck because he barely said anything the whole podcast.
Hi Guys,
First time I heard your podcast. Great work. Is there somewhere that I can access the previous ones?
Probably my favorite podcast. Funny stuff.
Excellent use of Parting Ways.
Is anyone going to see Eddie Vedder at Massey Hall next month? I'm debating making a trip up. If the Jays were worth watching, I would come up for sure....
....but I guess it doesn't matter because they are on the road that whole week. Everything sucks.
Can someone give me another good reason to make the trip?
Thanks Scott. Also, thanks Stoeten for that response. You guys should definately do a track listing for every podcast....do it in the blog so the iMDB trivia fact of the show.
Ya Parting Ways was the only one that stood out to me and I'm a sucker for that ha. Vedder at Massey Hall eh?
Stedron, I saw Pearl Jam at the ACC. Vedder went full out. They only had one opening act (My Morning Jacket) and played a long show with like 4-5 encores...Vedder loves Toronto. Another good reason: the Into the Wild soundtrack continues to blow my mind.
Hey Ryan and Stedron, this is the 21st Century.
All music selection praise should be directed at Scott. I forgot my selection of electropop homo anthems in my girlfriend's purse.
Scott stepped up to the plate with his iTunes library, although I was able to send him the Taco song to close things out.
Excellent once again.
But I'm fucking shocked you haven't had me on yet.
All music selection praise should be directed at Scott. I forgot my selection of electropop homo anthems in my girlfriend's purse.
Hahahahaha. I wondered when Parkes had acquired the taste for music with balls.
Ryan - I was at that show at the ACC. If you're talking about the one where Bono came up during Keep On Rockin' In The Free World. That was an amazing show.
My PJ highlights would be:
-Both shows at the Gorge in 2006.
-Opening for the Stones at PNC Park.
-Opening for Tom Petty at Summerfest.
Parkes - You don't know what you're missing. I guess you're more into Lil' Wayne, Rihanna, and the Jonas Brothers?
I wouldn't go there. There have been good rock bands since 1995... just sayin'.
So I have to jettison Pearl Jam once new bands come around? Am I only allowed to like a finite number?
PJ's album in 2006 was pretty good. It's not like I'm chasing the Grateful Dead around....not that there was anything wrong with that.
I get offended when people associate Pearl Jam with Jeremy, and that's it. They've been putting out music pretty consistently, granted not many radio songs or videos on MTV. That's mostly why I like them. They are the anti-Nickleback - though Nickleback has some catchy songs.
"Nickleback has some catchy songs."
And the credibility factor is diminished.
Stedron, I'm just saying that you jumped over a lot of stuff by putting Pearl Jam on one side and Lil' Wayne, etc., on the other. I'm sure the comment wasn't that serious, though.
The Lil' Wayne comment wasn't that serious either, but it looked like we were validating music by the date it came out, not the content of said music.
And on Nickleback, they are the definition of vile pop, but if you haven't been drunk in a bar and found yourself unknowingly tapping your foot to a song of theirs, only to realize what you're doing and momentarily hating yourself, you're a better man than I.
Stoeten, I was there for that show too.....and it was an amazing show. I think most PJ fans can concede that their self-titled 2006 album isn't their best but they did a great job mixing in new with old....I think my favourite part was playing Yellow Bedletter
Parkes, it is the 21st century? oh yes my computer tells me thats right....that Taco song is a great outro song I'll give ya that.
Nothing more frustrating than coming home from work and being told right when I walk in the door that a SP needs an MRI and left in the 4th....fack
I didn't realize it was the 21st century in Canada as well.
-Sorry. Couldn't resist.
