Blue Jays Rumoured To Land Castro

In yet another attempt to convince the people of Cuba that he is still alive, revolutionary leader Fabio Castro has been rumoured to be on his way to the Toronto Blue Jays. as part of the deal that sent Matt Stairs to the Philadelphia Phillies.

ESPN's Buster Olney is reporting that the former dictator and current Minor League starter will complete the deal that sent Matt Stairs to the Philadelphia Phillies. The 23 year old left hander has been used primarily in long relief during his brief stints in the Major Leagues with the Texas Rangers and Philadelphia.

While the Jays pitching coaches have proven that they can make an effective reliever out of any castoff (ahem, Randy Wells), if you find yourself getting too excited over this latest addition, I suggest you go back to visiting Batter's Box more frequently.

I'm kind of excited...a young power lefty arm for Stairs? I thought it would be a pure salary dump. If Arnsberg can figure out his control problems he might even crack the best bullpen in the league. The Jays need someone to fill the Jason Frasor "throws 95 but never pitches because he's too erratic (read: short)" role.
