Justin In Guelph Is The Winner

Justin: "Um.. just a couple things here. Guillermo Quiroz, Kevin Cash, now Diaz... what other Triple-A amazing talent are we gonna wind up giving up for guys like Bautista who have failed to even make contact with a fastball the last three games?"

Dumbfounded JP: "Are you saying that Guillermo Quiroz, Kevin Cash are above average major league players???"

Justin: "Three excellent Triple-A players... They have made statements and other teams clearly want them. These are very, very high demand players."

. . .

Wilner: "I haven't actually had to say this on a Wednesday with JP, though I do say it the other six days of the week: if you're going to call, at least make sense. Thank you."

Obvious hat tip to last night's Wednesdays With JP on the Fan590.

The unintentional comedy of WWJP is what makes it so special.

I loved how JP's response was pretty much "yeah we can get players like that"

There's a reason why JP doesn't respect the average fan...

Didn't Quiroz have a collapsed lung?

Because hes smarter than they are. If he had a little more class, he wouldn't make that fact evident every chance he got.

JP gets more shit flung his way because he is generally disliked, in part because he's so fucking arrogant yet so mildly accomplished. Its annoying.

tbqh this is part of the attraction. i love listening to people go into a rage about how big bad jp has been sent by tal smith to destroy the spirit of baseball in toronto

I love arrogant little fucks of the Riccardi/Burnett variety.

It's not the Alex Rios, laissez-faire, oh-look-the-ball's-under-the-wall, I'm-gonna-tippy-toe-around-a-catcher, I'm-too-cool-to-catch-this fly-ball variety of arrogance; it's the take-it-or-leave-it variety. It's the David Duchovny on Californication variety. It's the kind of attitude I can happily support.

I honestly feel embarrassed listening to WWJP and Jays Talk sometimes. Not embarrassed that I cheer for the same team as these idiots, more that we are both (presumably)functioning human beings.

Derek, good call. JP always brags that he can get a job. He can...as batboy on the Rays! His time is over with.

Calling someone arrogant is such a crutch. It's BS pandering to people's natural dislikes when you don't have anything substantial with which to shit on someone. It's the flip side of calling someone a whiner. Both totally meaningless unless you actually know the person beyond soundbites.

Also, I fucking LOVED how JP said something like, "If somebody wants to know whether they should hire me for a job in baseball, they're not going to ask the Toronto writers what they think." BANG FUCKING ON.

SO FUCKING TRUE Stoeten - honestly, i think JP got to insult his dumbass listeners without coming off as (espescially) arrogant on the last WWJP - the best of both worlds...
