Oh, and over 31 games since May 1st, including yesterday's brutal performance, Alex Rios is hitting .281/.340/.492/.833 with 6 home runs. So, the guy in this video is a complete fucking idiot for a) thinking Rios is a bum, and b) berating a ballplayer on the street like a little crybaby.
Still, though, I don't think Alex is doing himself any favours. React away . . .

it's hard not to find rios' performance so far this year...underwhelming at best. he's (arguably) the marquee hitter on an offense that has been among the best in baseball, he has one hitter in front of him that's been on the better part of a 400 OBP most of the year, followed by a guy leading the league in hits, and only has 26 rbi to show for it. good enough to tie the lead-off man for 5th on the team. rios hasn't been very good. he's heated up in may, but the season line still looks like this: .266/.324/.437/.761. not great for a corner outfielder who just signed a 70m deal.

I can't say I'm at all 'disappointed' in Alex for his little freak out here.
I mean, I can't imagine the shit he hears on the road, or even at home, from the fans when he is on the field of play. There, he has to tune it out, or just hear it out and not respond. But, leaving an event like this (whatever it was) with his wife/date/whomever, I bet the last thing he wants to put up with is a heckler.

The way I see it, Rios doesn't get the free pass here. Yeah, it's probably a pain in the ass to be bugged out in public for autographs, etc. but that's why they pay you $62 million (or whatever it is); it comes with the territory of being a celebrity. With that, pretty much everything you do and say becomes public...that's just the way it is. Don't like the fishbowl, Alex?
